** Super exciting news update…

I have recently become endorsed as a midwife, which means my antenatal and some of my postnatal consultations in the first 6 weeks after birth might be eligible for a partial, substantial or complete (bulk-billed) rebate from Medicare. There are terms and conditions so please contact me if you have questions or wish to assess your eligibility! …(and there’s some more info below too!)

Postnatal consultation options

Telehealth consultation

  • Midwifery & Lactation telehealth call to discuss your wellbeing and baby feeding/settling.

Telehealth is usually suited best for discovery calls (to find out if a face-to-face consultation will be helpful!) or to follow up from previous consultations. Telehealth may also be suitable for families with older babies who have questions about expressing, bottles, weaning and more.

Please know I will often be unable to safely address all questions/concerns over the phone, especially when it comes to topics like pain with feeding or baby growth/wellbeing. For these reasons I almost always recommend face-to-face consultations in the first 6 weeks after birth!

  • 30-45 Minutes

  • Bulk Billed - if your baby is less than 7 weeks old.

If your baby is >6 weeks, 6 days of age telehealth consultations are $100.

Clinic consultation

  • A 60-90min consultation with you, your support person and your baby in our cozy and private clinic rooms in Bella Vista.

This face-to-face appointment facilitates space for discussion, breastfeed/bottle feed, observation of baby feeding behaviour and assessment of mother/baby wellbeing.

Clinic appointments ensure a range of clinical assessments can be performed such as baby oral function check, physical health assessments and troubleshooting feeding issues.

Face to face consultations include a personalised management plan and resources appropriate to your individual circumstances.

  • 60 - 90 minutes

  • Cost $280*

*if your baby is less than 7 weeks old (up to 6 weeks, 6 days) you may be eligible for medicare rebate of $158 or more. Please contact me for more information and to assess your eligibility.

  • 90 Minutes

+ Follow up via email/phone for up to 2 weeks after inital home visit

Follow up?

Many of the families I see only require one face-to-face consultation to troubleshoot and resolve feeding concerns. Occasionally further consultations may be required to follow up on complex issues or as needed for your reassurance.

For this reason I typically discount follow up face to face consultations if they are facilitated within the first 2 weeks after our initial consultation. Consultations may be eligible for medicare rebate of partial or substantial amount of total cost too, including bulk billed follow up calls in the first 7 weeks after birth.
